What reconstitution means
Reconstitution means adding a measured amount of liquid to a dry vial. The dry vial amount is usually listed in milligrams. The liquid volume is usually listed in milliliters. Once the liquid is added, the important number becomes concentration: how many milligrams are in each milliliter of liquid.
This matters because the same vial can produce very different syringe readings depending on how much liquid is added. A 5 mg vial mixed with 1 mL is more concentrated than a 5 mg vial mixed with 2 mL. The amount in the vial did not change, but the amount in each small draw changed.
The four numbers to know
- Vial amount: the total dry material listed on the vial, usually in mg.
- Diluent volume: the total liquid added to the vial, measured in mL.
- Concentration: the amount of material in each mL after mixing.
- Draw volume: the amount of liquid associated with the target amount in the calculator.
How U-100 syringe units fit in
U-100 syringe markings are a volume scale. On a U-100 syringe, 100 units equals 1 mL, 50 units equals 0.5 mL, and 10 units equals 0.1 mL. That means syringe units are not a peptide dose by themselves. They only become meaningful after you know the concentration of the liquid.
For example, if two vials have different diluent volumes, the same 10-unit draw can contain different amounts. That is why Peptide Reports calculators show both the mL draw and the syringe-unit equivalent.

Common mistakes
Where people usually get confused
Mixing up mg and mcg
Milligrams and micrograms are not the same. One milligram equals 1,000 micrograms. If a calculator asks for mcg and someone enters mg, the result can be off by a factor of 1,000.
Thinking units are the dose
Syringe units are volume markings. They do not tell you how much peptide is present unless you also know the concentration. The same 10-unit draw can mean different amounts depending on how the vial was mixed.
Changing liquid volume without recalculating
Adding more or less liquid changes the concentration. Any change to diluent volume should be treated as a new calculation, even when the vial amount stays the same.
